St Giles’ has a set of 10 bells cast in 1844 by Charles & George Mears. The bells were rehung by Taylor’s of Loughborough in 1927 with new fittings in the original timber frame. They were recently retuned.

The bells are rung for special services such as weddings, and occasionally for the Sunday morning service.

There is a monthly ringing practice, 7-9pm on the first Friday of every month, when visitors can see and hear the bells in action.

Both experienced ringers and those interested in finding out more are welcome – follow the stepping stones to find the tower door.

The bells are rung by the Docklands Ringers who were formed to promote and teach the art of bellringing in Docklands and the surrounding area, including the Boroughs of Tower Hamlets & Southwark.
